Our Story

Vintage Hoe the first vintage shop in Mexico city opened its door in 2007, as the brainchild of Joel deFandino a Cuban American vintage collector that moved from Los Angeles to Ciudad de Mexico in the summer of 2003 as the director of PR for KMS international.

His passion for fashion started at home, growing up the son of the owner of 3 French and Italian ready-to-wear clothing stores in the LA area, followed by his studies in architecture at the University of Oregon and years working as a stylist and fashion designer in Los Angeles. In the early nineties, Joel opens its first Vintage shop in the Hayes Valley in San Francisco.

In Mexico City after KMS, Joel worked as accessories designer and development at Carla Fernandez’s non-profit organization Taller Flora alongside artisans of various Mexican communities. From 2004 to 2008 he taught Fashion History at Cento Diseño y Television School.

Vintage Hoe started as an alternative for people with style looking for options beyond Zara and Palacio and continues as an option for fashion-forward  people
